Imagine for one day, the best possible cycling roads are closed to traffic. Before you is an epic route with challenging climbs and thrilling descents. All you have to do is concentrate on the beauty around you. You're feeling fit and you're lined up for a huge ride with thousands of your fellow cyclists. It's not a race, so there's no pressure. You can ride whatever pace you want. You can even stop for a sandwich along the way - they're provided.

Ride in a dedicated lane from Stanley Park in Vancouver to Whistler through the Sea to Sky Highway. The scenic mountain views in this point to point GranFondo are on every cyclists bucket list. The event ends in Whistler with a party in Whistler Olympic Plaza with food, beverage, awards and an evening concert.

In 2007, Kevin Thomson and Neil McKinnon had the vision of producing a world-class cycling event to serve as a legacy event of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. In September 2010, after three years of work, that dream became a reality. The inaugural RBC GranFondo Whistler allowed 4,000 passionate cyclists the opportunity to ride the world-renowned Sea to Sky Highway in a dedicated car-free lane from downtown Vancouver to Whistler.

There is roving support on course (food, medical and mechanic) as well as five dedicated rest stops to support 4500 cyclists on this point-to-point event.

GranFondo - for riders who want to challenge themselves at their own pace, the GranFondo category is the full 122 km at a self-set pace for recreational to advanced riders.

Forte - 155km, limited to 250 riders, this category is specially for those who want the challenge of riding up two mountains; Cypress Mountain first then up to Whistler. Riders in this category must be able to maintain an average speed of 20km/hour including stops. This category is best suited for advanced riders.

It is unclear whether there will be a shorter Medio route in 2018.
